Copy Effect with property links
Let me explain with an example. Suppose you have multiple layers in your project and you want to apply an effect with the same settings to all layers. So, what do you do?
If you are a beginner, you may apply the effect to individual layers and then adjust the effect for each layer. If you want to be a little smarter, you might decide to apply the effect to one of the layers and then adjust it, and finally copy and paste the effect you adjusted to other layers.
The second solution may seem logical, but what if you decide to change the effect settings after pasting the effect onto other layers? This is where you will realise that the second method is not as correct as you thought!
What is the copy with property links?
With the help of copy with property links, you can select an effect as a reference, then copy and paste the reference effect on other layers. Now if you change the settings of the reference effect, all the copied effects will also change.
It’s really easy to do. It’s like a simple copy paste. First, you need to apply the effect on the desired layer and adjust it. In the next step, select the effect (click on the effect in the Effect and Controls panel), then go to the Edit menu and click on the Copy with Property Links option. You can also use the shortcut keys: Ctrl + Alt + C (on Windows) | Command + Option + C (on macOS). In the last step, paste the copied effect on other layers.
Finally, we must tell you that “Copy with Property Links” is different from “Copy with Relative Property Links”.
